Measurement sources

Ping, traceroute and MTR run on the Kernaali host through its AS16302 connection. This point currently has IPv4 connectivity. Traceroute uses one ICMP probe cycle; MTR uses five cycles. A hop that does not reply can still forward traffic.

DNS queries use resolver 1.1.1.1. BGP and origin-AS lookups use RIPE RIS collectors and also accept public IPv6 addresses. Collector results show their own peers’ routing views, not Suomi Communications’ internal routing table.

Queries run only when you select Run query. Results include the source, time and resolved address for comparison with a partner’s measurement. A shared link fills in a query; its recipient runs a new measurement.

Up to two measurements can run at once. Allow ten seconds between queries after the initial burst. Private and special-use destinations are excluded. See privacy and request handling.
